About Nirmohee

Nirmohee Belvalkar is a ceramic artist currently based out of Goa. She has been working with clay since 2015, exploring the many ways of manipulating the medium through a ceramic specific undergraduate degree from Bennington College, Vermont, and an MFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan.

Her relationship with making ceramic work has been personal, spiritual, emotional, and symbiotic.

Through the opportunities of education, internships, and employment within the ceramic sphere, she has had access to explore multiple environments and landscapes. Moving between urban and rural settings, and tropical and continental climates has supplied her with varying insights into how landscapes inform communities. Some places and spaces have felt like home, while some are interactions in transit that pass by swiftly.

Through her practice, Nirmohee is trying to make ceramic objects that allow her to capture constantly evolving surroundings and allow for play to be able to translate and process the emotions that arise from these movements.
